Simulate the spread of an illness through a population. Using a safe, simulated disease agent, students model the transmission of a communicable viral disease, identify its origin and calculate its rate of spread through the population. The class forms inferences on the rate a disease spreads today as compared to a similar outbreak a century ago. Class size - 40 students.
